New Business Partners

Chaffee County welcomes new UAS business development partners.  Our program has established the following categories for businesses to work with the County for developing UAS commercial applications.  Other agreements not fitting the following categories, can be negotiated through the UAS Advisory Board on a case by case basis.  Contact Wendell Pryor at (719) 207-0801 for details.

Category 1 – Small Business, majority owned by Chaffee County Resident

  • Provide UAS for research purposes with qualified pilot as a no-charge lease to Chaffee County for 3 months (or more)
  • Provide either funding for technical support or volunteer hours for COA application and maintenance
  • Provide funding for county support staff for UAS operational testing or arrange local volunteer Observers who have participated in county approved UAS training class

Category 2 – Other Business wishing to perform UAS research through County UAS Research Initiative

  • Have a plan to establish an office in Chaffee County prior to starting flight testing
  • Have a plan to provide employment in Chaffee County prior to starting flight testing
  • Commit to employing two or more full or part-time employees resident in Chaffee County for at least 2 years with a minimum of 2000 man hours/year.
  • Provide UAS for research purposes with qualified pilot as a no-charge lease to Chaffee County for 3 months (or more)
  • Provide funding for technical support for COA application and maintenance
  • Provide funding for county support staff for UAS operational testing
